Bowthorpe was purpose-built from the 1970s as a planned settlement on the western edge of Norwich, and its consistent housing design actually works in homeowners' favour when fitting solar panels.
The three villages of Bowthorpe, including Chapel Break and Clover Hill, were built to a relatively uniform standard with similar roof pitches and orientation. A significant number of properties in Chapel Break in particular have south-facing rear roof slopes that are well positioned for solar generation with minimal shading from mature trees or neighbouring rooftops.
